Why should you do product audits? In IATF 16949, there are clear requirements for product audits to be carried out according to customer-specific requirements, but few know why they should be done, what products and properties should be covered and how they should be done.
Product audits should be done as part of a system where product audits are the basis (as an input to, among other things, process audits. Product audits form an information base that can show weaknesses in, for example, production. You should (shall) therefore conduct product audits in such a way that you satisfy your customers in the best way, reduce the risks of incorrect products / specifications to the customer and so that you give yourself the opportunity to find (product development) processes that are not stable.
VDA 6.5, unlike other methods and other books on the subject, gives you a tool for conducting product audits in a strategic way and thus an opportunity for optimization of the product audits that must be done.
